Conflict Resolution Training
We will deliver a comprehensive one-day conflict resolution training course based on trauma informed, restorative approaches to CJS professionals. This will improve participants’ ability to respond to conflict confidently, resiliently and positively by using restorative approaches. Applying trauma informed, restorative approaches will enable both officers and community members to remain engaged, build positive relationships and improve their conflict resolution skills.
The training will improve participant understanding of the root causes of aggression, antisocial behaviour and violence in responses to conflict. It will develop insight into factors that can aid change and growth in individual’s approaches to conflict, building participants motivation in persevering with de-escalating conflicts through challenges.
Through the training participants will learn to:
- Understand key principles of trauma informed and restorative approaches
- Use trauma informed, restorative approaches to de-escalate conflicts,
- Facilitate safe, constructive communication during and after
- Dynamically assess individuals’ needs and potential risks posed by
- Identify and apply risk mitigation strategies in implementing restorative approachesUp to 20 participants can be involved in each 1 day course, a minimum of 6 are required to run the course. 1 day course can be delivered either over a full day or split into 2 half day sessions on different days, online or in person. The course meets the Restorative Justice Council’s best practice guidelines.

- The Restorative Approaches Facilitator Role
- On-the-Spot Restorative Approaches
- Managing and Minimising Risks
Group Supervision
After the training, ongoing group supervision and reflective practice sessions can be provided every 4 – 8 weeks to up to 20 participants. They will provide advice and support to those implementing restorative approaches, further building resilience and bringing a fresh perspective to keep facilitators safe, motivated and engaged.
